"Everything Looks Perfect!"

This was the comment of the ultrasound tech after speaking to the radiologist about Thea's follow-up hip ultrasound.  She continued to say that "everything looks good at all angles."  I was both relieved and so grateful for the news of her continued growth.  Praising God this week for good things!

Oh no! Part II

Scene: It was a great Thursday evening.  The weather was just right, not too hot, not to cold.  There was a pleasant breeze.  Matthew and Daddy were playing with a big blue ball.  Daddy starting showing Matthew how high he could kick it into the tree.  Daddy and Matthew were enjoying seeing the ball hit the branches.* Daddy kicks the ball into the tree and it gets stuck in a nest of branches.

Matthew: Oh no! Our ball! (play on repeat about 15 more times over the course of the next half hour)

Mommy tries to get the ball with a baseball a couple times.  Fail.

Daddy tries to hit the ball about 20 times.  Fail.

Mommy and Daddy say that Uncle Paul is going to need to intervene.

Mommy tries one more time before heading inside.  Winner!

Matthew high fives mommy, starts clapping, and yells, "Ball!  Ball!  Ball!"

*Do you see where this is going????

I'm a Bear

Mike told me this week that when I am sleeping it appears as though I am hibernating.  The covers are to my  chin and the pillow is right at the top of my head.  He said when he wakes me up, my tired face asks, "Wait, it's not February yet, is it?"

Should I be wearing more make-up?!?!

Thea's 2 Months Old

Here are the stats:

Height: 22 1/2 inches (50th %ile)
Weight: 11 pounds, 11 ounces (75th %ile)
50%ile for head circumference

Thea is such a delight!  She is able to do a major push-up at this point, is sucking her thumb as you just saw in the above video, and she is a great sleeper (6-8 hours at a time at night on average, but sometimes even 10 hours!).  Matthew looks forward to seeing her in the morning, offers her cheese (one of his favorite foods), and is teaching her how to high five.

Looking forward to the next months ahead...

Oh No! Part I

Scene: It's the morning and Mommy had gotten little sleep the night before.  Matthew was asking for Mommy's attention while standing between Mommy and Thea's crib.  Thea starts crying rather than going down easily for a nap like she usually does.

Matthew (looking at Thea): Oh no!

(Exhausted Mommy starts crying.)

Matthew (now looking at Mommy): Oh no!

Hip Preschool

We heard from Thea's doctor yesterday.  His recommendation was to wait until she was 10 weeks old (which is in  two weeks) and repeat the ultrasound.  His hope and expectation is that her hip will show growth, that her hip will be normal.  If it is not, she will wear a cloth brace for 4 weeks and then she will have a repeat ultrasound.

Today, Matthew and I took a trip to his future preschool.  He will be starting when he turns two in October and will go Monday and Wednesday mornings for two hours at a time.  The director of the preschool asked to meet him in order to see if he would be able to handle school come the fall.  She appreciated his "focused play" and said "I can see why you think he would benefit from this.  He's ready!"  I am excited about this for Matthew, to learn and grow and to have regular socializing time.  And I look forward to meeting other moms too!
