Kids Quotes XXVI

Daddy: Can I have a kiss before I go to work?

Matthew: But Daddy, you need a work shirt!

Daddy: What do you mean, Bud? I'm gonna wear this shirt to work. (points at his solid colored polo)

Matthew: But Daddy, it doesn't have squares!!

So...maybe Daddy needs some variety in his work wardrobe.

Matthew's Last Day of School

It was been such a blessing that Matthew has had the same loving and talented teachers for preschool the last two years. He has grown socially (better understands taking turns and has made a really good buddy), academically (he can recognize his ABCs and can count to 12 going forwards and backwards from 10), and in his faith (back in December his lead teacher told me "he really knows this Christmas story). I am so grateful that he was able to start last year upon turning 2 and that we continued in what we believe couldn't be a better preschool. Matthew will miss Kate and Kim and they will miss him, but everyone is excited for Thea to have a turn in this classroom - especially Thea!

Papa's Day Tea

Yesterday, Matthew's school had a Mother's Day tea. Since Thea was sick with a fever, Papa filled in and oh boy was Matthew excited! They had tea, fruit and cookies followed by a singing show for the caregivers. Matthew's favorite part was signing "Pop Goes the Weasal" which he thinks is hysterical. Papa said Matthew sang and was a great leader. Special times. :)

Capture the Moment

A 4 year old boy approaches us at the sandbox.

Thea: I'm C-ah. (Stretches arm) This Matthew. (Stretches arm towards me) And this Mommy.

All I can think is where has the time gone and how much more quickly will it pass. Really wish I could press the pause button at this point in our lives. For like a year. Or at least rewind back to it.

Famous Last Words

Matthew (while crying): I'm not tired.

Seconds later...

And then Bean looks over, laughs and...

Persistence

Note to self: help Thea channel her persistence in healthy and positive ways.

Today, within two hours, Thea rid herself of diapers and jumped out of the crib.

Let's start with the first one. Thea can now pull her pants off and take her diaper off. Having her stay in diapers is not just a matter of getting it on her and then the battle is over. And let me just say I am alllll about her getting going on potty training except we move in 10 days. Nonetheless, this afternoon I went with it. Till she peed on the couch. Then she knew the game was over and the diaper was back on.

Number 2. She was hysterically crying*  during her bath and while being dressed for bed. When offered snuggle time and a book or go straight to bed, Thea threw herself to the ground tantrum-style. So to bed she went. And then within 30 seconds she had jumped the crib.

*Something about only taking a 45 min nap and having a cold

This is for Daddy

If you're not an art history major, I'll interpret.

Matthew drew a rainbow and wrote his name in yellow on the left. He decorated it with stickers. And he loves recycling so he used the sticky part that surrounds the stickers too.
