Mike and I were really excited about the second to last weekend in February because it was when Mike's parents were going to be in town to spend quality time with Matthew while we spent time just the two of us in the city. However, we were also quite nervous because it was taking Matthew an hour to be put to sleep at night, he had not spent much time with Mike's parents, and he had never had a bottle before bed. Don't get me wrong, Matthew is a champion eater, but I don't know how much he drinks before bed and how long this influences how long he sleeps. Another lesson in worry being pointless...the weekend went great for all of us! Here are some of the wonderful pictures of Matthew taken by Susan:

He LOVES this monkey! |
On Saturday, Susan, Geoff, and Matthew came to the city to eat lunch with us and Mike's cousin Lauren. Afterwards, we had a mini photo shoot at the hotel.
And on that Sunday, Matthew rolled over while we were all watching!!! It was really fun to all be able to see it together. It took a total of about 10 minutes, but it was worth it. He had done this once before when he was 2 1/2 months but we're pretty sure that was just gravity.
And another milestone occured that Sunday. Matthew had his first "solid" meal. They suggested making it pretty soupy to gradually get him accustomed to the new deal, but it was still rice cereal.

Mmmmm!!!! |
But enough about Matthew, geez. Why aren't we talking more about me? Come on. Of course I'm not serious. Mike and I stayed at The Drake. Seriously, best beds and pillows. It was Chicago Restaurant Week so we went to Cafe de Architectes the first night where we tried parsnip ice cream, although I think they were lying because it was vanilla. The second night we went to Don Shula's steakhouse and on our way we ran into our friends Matt and Lindsey, which was a fun coincidence. It was incredible to have time for just us. To be us again. We were missing that. But now that "cry it out" is over and done with (he has yet to cry for more than a couple of minutes at night or naptime), we are able to have wonderful time with our son and just with each other. Ahhh, life is so good. We feel overwhelmingly blessed by God. Thank you.
